General Information and Cultivation3: Relatively recently discovered by science (early 2000’s) and a very rare Cryptocoryne in the hobby. In early 2021 Tankquility received a specimen labelled Cryptocoryne noritoi from an historic Australian plant collection. The collector had received his initial plant around the time of the discovery of the species. After three years of emerse growing our plant has finally produced an inflorescence! We are very happy to confirm its identification.
Tankquility has no first-hand knowledge regarding the growing of the species submerse. Given that it originates from a limestone area, and that it adapts to very acid substrates as an emerse plant, it seems very likely that Cryptocoryne noritoi will prove itself to be adaptable to aquarium conditions (https://www.cryptocoryneworld.org/c_noritoi.php).
Growing this crypt emerse is possible under high humidity/misting and low to moderate light intensity. In emerse form, greenhouse plants grown under mist reach about 120mm in height. Terrarium grown plants may be slightly larger.
Identification Notes: Tankquility has flowered this clone and confirmed its identity as belonging to the species Cryptocoryne noritoi.
Ease of Care: Easy
Plant Size/Portion Size:
Emerse grown plant: Medium-size plant with strong root development.

Plants can alter their appearance due to seasonal influence, or in response to different environmental conditions or stage of maturity. This phenomenon is known as phenotypic plasticity, and it is especially evident in Aquatic/Semiaquatic plants. Whilst we endeavour to portray a plant accurately, the plant you receive may have been growing under different conditions or be at a different stage of maturity to the one in the image(s) provided.
